Kimberly recently had the opportunity to be reunited with her 17-year-old son for the first time in 14 years.
We at Regeneration had the opportunity to connect with her before the meeting and she was overwhelmed with joy, gratefulness and excitement. She knew that the adoptive parents were aware of her situation, but was grateful that she was still getting the opportunity to see him.
It was special for us to be there in this moment as we could tell it was so important for her to share this with us. It was also a blessing to see her so happy and filled with joy. She truly did have the biggest smile on her face. But then we saw her again the following Monday with an even bigger smile on her face, showing us pictures from her visit. For the first time since they were very small, Kim was able to be with all 3 of her children as they enjoyed a family dinner at Boston Pizza.
We had never seen her so happy, and it was a special moment to share.
We felt honoured to have been there to share in her excitement both before and after the meeting. The fact that she wanted to share photos and stories was a big step for her. To share in these moments are what keep the staff at Regeneration going every day.
